Courses

JHC deliver a range of 1 day and 3 day courses which cover a variety of leadership and management topics to deal with most situations. The training approach uses a combination of discussion, scenario-led demonstrations and practice sessions. This enables attendees to understand the different ideas and test the approach during the course.

Courses have 6-12 attendees, the small numbers allow an element of coaching for each person attending the course.

Introduction to Leadership

This 1 day course is designed to teach basic leadership skills for new and junior supervisors. The course covers a range of leadership topics to introduce some of the challenges that a new or recently promoted leader will face. The main focus of this course is to build confidence by providing some basic tools and techniques to make leading people more effective. The course provides basic leadership theory and is fully interactive to ensure ideas can be tested.

Leading a Team

This 1 day course is designed to develop team management skills. A group of individuals can develop longer-lasting and more innovative solutions than one individual. However if teams do not work together or individual inputs are not encouraged, a team can be no more effective than a single individual’s output from that team. The course looks at building a team, promoting “good conflict” and then looks at how to avoid some of the issues that naturally develop in teams. Participants should have a basic knowledge of leadership and management and some experience with team management. The course is fully interactive and will develop team leadership skills.

Performance Management

This 1 day course is designed to demonstrate proven techniques for managing the growth of your team. The course looks at how to get the best from your team, whilst supporting their individual professional growth. Participants should have a basic knowledge of leadership and management and some experience with team management. The course is fully interactive and will develop understanding of various tools and techniques that will encourage managers to become more effective at developing their team.

Coaching and Delegation

This 1 day course is designed to teach leaders how to coach effectively. Understanding the coaching process is an essential skill to help develop a team and drive individuals towards success. The course looks at the coaching process and how this can be used to prepare for a successful delegation, build confidence or develop/enhance new skills. Participants should have a basic knowledge of leadership and management and some experience with team management. The course is fully interactive and will develop coaching and delegation skills.

Leadership and Management

This 3 day course is designed to teach and develop leadership skills. The course covers a range of leadership topics and touches on many areas that challenge the modern leader. The attendees are encouraged to be fully active in the course using a combination of recalled situations, discussion and one-to-one coaching to allow attendees to learn about different leadership and management tools. These tools are then tested during scenario-driven activities.

Managing Your Time

This 1 day course is designed to improve your time management. The course looks at different ways to deal effectively with organising tasks, prioritising your time and being more effective at dealing with interruptions. Much of our time can be taken up doing tasks that are not important, leaving little time to focus on the areas that will increase our productivity. The course will look at how to prioritise in a way that will add value to your working day. The training is fully interactive and will develop an understanding of various tools and techniques that will encourage managers and supervisors to become more effective in managing their time.
